Who Will Be the PFA Player of the Year?

There are few more prestigious honors that can be won by a soccer player in the Premier League than being named the PFA Player of the Year.

The award is determined based on votes by professional stars in the top division in England, and a number of legendary Premier League figures have won the accolade during their career.

The previous roll of honor includes legendary figures such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, and Alan Shearer. But who do the EPL odds suggest will be the PFA Player of the Year winner in 2024?

There are no prizes for guessing the clear favorite at the current odds available, as 2023 winner Erling Haaland is currently priced up at +225.

As one of the top EPL teams, Manchester City teammate Kevin De Bruyne is second choice in the betting at +700, with two-time winner Mohammed Salah available at +1000.

Harry Kane is next in the PFA Player of the Year winner odds at +1200, with England teammates Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and Jack Grealish priced up at +1600 and +2000, respectively.

Marcus Rashford is the shortest price of the Man United players at +2500, with Kaoru Mitoma the shortest price of the players outside the big six in the EPL rankings at +8000.

Erling Haaland enjoyed a stellar first season in English soccer, as he scored 52 goals in 53 matches across all competitions. The Norwegian netted 36 goals in 35 games to set a new record for the most efforts in the Premier League, as Manchester City were crowned champions of England for a third straight season.

His performances saw him pick up both the PFA Player of the Year and the Young PFA Player of the Year accolade. However, only Kevin De Bruyne has been named the PFA Player of the Year winner in consecutive seasons since the 2008-09 campaign.

There is a widespread belief that Liverpool will be back in the mix for the Premier League title this season after a disappointing 2022-23 campaign. Therefore, the top stars for the Reds could present value at the current prices available.

Mohamed Salah has won the award on two occasions, and the Liverpool forward could become the first player to ever win the accolade on three occasions this season.

Salah will need to be at his very best if the Reds are going to overthrow Man City. However, there could be value in also assessing his Anfield teammates, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alexis Mac Allister, who are available at huge prices of +3300 and +6600, respectively.

Mikel Arteta has spent big throughout the summer as Arsenal look to improve on their performance last season. The Gunners have spent big to bring Declan Rice and Kai Havertz to the club, and both could be key players if the club are to challenge for the Premier League title.

However, the key players from last term remain their most important, with huge seasons expected from Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. The latter could present value in the betting, as the Gunners captain is currently available at +2000.

Odegaard scored 15 goals and registered seven assists for the Gunners last term, and the 24-year-old could present great value as we expect him to improve on those tallies in 2023-24.

In truth, it is very challenging to overlook Haaland, as the striker looks like a safe bet to at least score 30 goals once again in 2023-24. However, we have lofty expectations of Arsenal this summer, and a bet on Odegaard to win the award at +2000 looks like very good value.
