Lenawee Historical Society Issues Update on Building Improvements
Adrian, MI – The Lenawee Historical Society says that they are already seeing the fruits of their labor with recent improvements to their Adrian building.
Their monthly newsletter for August stated that historically, this is the time of year when the museum experienced high humidity and below grade wall surfaces were damp. They said that dehumidifiers ran constantly and needed to be drained daily.
The historical society has had work done on their building, including sealing and insulating the foundation walls, along with the sealing of the windows.
They say that the air feels dryer and the walls are warmer. The final phase, applying a silicone sealant to the bricks, will begin in mid- September. This phase will mark the completion of the work to eliminate moisture from seeping into the building envelope.
The fundraising efforts will continue at least through the end of the year to replenish the trust fund they have been drawing on to finance the work.
